Prior to the Village Underground engagement, Mirei blew the packed standing room only crowd away at the popular Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson’s owned Sugar Bar supper club on West 72nd Street, when she once again delivered an show stopping open mic rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” accompanied by a live house band. Commenting on her New York City Village Underground and Sugar Bar musical open mic experiences Mirei says, “I love New York. I feel a sense of freedom to just be me. New York also challenges and enhances me musically. The people in New York are very honest and they don’t hold back. I will be back very soon. I would love to perform at The Apollo. That would be like a dream come true for me.”
